One cannot blame elected democrats for this. The persons to blame are the ones staring back in the mirror in the morning. If you vote Democrat YOU are the problem. Without your vote and support they would not be in power.

It's completely out of control. Check out Flash Shelton and Squatter Hunters, you can hire his team to remove them from the property.

There's the old saying, "With friends like these, who needs enemies?" This reminds me of a new saying, "Wiith laws like these, who needs a legislature?"

Miss Cox, can you actually go into detail on which parts of the law (and maybe 1-2 case precedent) actually allow for squatters to have these "rights"? A lot of people have a hard time understanding how someone with no rent/lease contract, family relation, will, etc sudde ly gets bestowed with these rights.

Edit: Add how are they turning on utilities? Are the utilities in the house owner's name? If so, how is this possible?

What obligates the landlord to continue maintaining the property if there is no lease or the lease has expired?

🤔... There are many foreclosed bank own properties which aren't being targeted, this appears to be another orchestrated effort amplified by the use of social media. Its a fact that migrants are being paid and brought in and now the word is out on how they can access free living quarters from tax-paying citizens. Tax-payer funds are being used to encourage and accommodate a crisis that harms citizens. Citizens benefits are being slashed due to budget deficits. The city and state are accountable to their citizens for use and abuse of funds. All citizens are being harmed/damaged by these toxic policies. Any possibility we can all be plaintiffs in a law suit against the city/state? Citizens of NY vs govt of NY for misappropriation and abuse of taxpayer funds??

It's also huge bullshit that housing skyrocketed for the last 2 decades +.

Guess who is making the money on that? Big banks. Not the owners who when they sell, still have to buy an overpriced house.

People talk like inflation is new but that's total bullshit.

We had huge inflation since the dot con scam collapsed and fed the real estate bubble scam, which now also feeds the commodities scam.

END STAGE CAPITALISM.

now I know why Jesus drove out the money changers 😂

It’s NY. Home to many gangs and mafia. For $5k you hire someone to physically remove them and drop them in the bayou. Problem solved. People need to start getting violent. These like laws they use to steal. These Jews have been thrives and pirates gir centuries it’s time to exterminate the parasites. Sometimes people need to think outside the box.

In California an occupant becomes a tenant after 14 days! It doesn't have to be a squatter but it could be a freeloader relative or friend who asked to stay till they get back on their feet then refuses to leave. Legit tenants are in the worst position; they can be kicked out by the owner for this unintentional "sublease" after a 3-day notice but then their guest is entitled to a 30-day notice from the owner and a full eviction process.

The new rules started in 2020. There was a campaign in the media in 2019, look up "Moms 4 Housing". "Homeless" (not really) "Moms" (where only one had children) squatters took over an empty house in Oakland (they were eventually evicted, but then this house got purchased on their behalf... poor Moms). The message was it's unfair to have vacant houses while there are so many homeless people. That particular house was inherited by local residents and stayed empty for a while, then got purchased by a real estate company which was preparing to fix and sell it. So, there was no outrage snatching it from a corporation. But I wonder how they figured out what house to occupy and when, sounds like a weird "coincidence" for somebody in an urgent need of housing. And nobody raised a question about empty houses owned by regular people.
