I don’t doubt you but you give me nothing to say to those who find it a compassionate law. One person on next door is now advising others to put on their yard signs to vote yes since he thinks it is a good law. I was called hateful for opposing it. Please give me solid reasons why it would do what you say it will.
The first rule of thumb is to wake-up and smell the coffee. Do you see anything to date happening politically that is beneficial to our personal liberties today? How about censorship - which is being being advocated as protection against supposed hate speech? If we only loose our freedom of speech with this NYS proposal, every one of our other liberties becomes moot. You shouldn’t need to research any further than this one point to understand how terribly far-off your neighbor’s opinion is here, yard sign or otherwise! Just in case you do need more input, are you enjoying ‘drag queen story hour’ in our public elementary schools; how about forced gender transitioning of our children without parental consent?; the abolition of parental rights? lavishing extraordinary taxpayer benefits on illegal aliens? Are you okay with those unconstitutional health quarantine Laws? Once it is illegal to discriminate against anyone - as in equal rights, then the law of the land becomes anything the courts and our corrupted politicians say it is! At that point, our God given rights are no longer ours. Is any State Constitutional Amendment worth that price? Any elected representative that signed on to this legislation is unfit to hold public office ….. period. No matter how you look at this Amendment, it is communism at its finest. There must be a pice to pay for putting forward such a ‘fraud’ as a Constitutiomal Amendment. There should be a Scarlet Letter attached to any public office holder who signed on to promote this Amendment.
The wording is vague and open to wide-ranging interpretations. Just look at the news to see the agenda of this administration. Since laws already cover abortion, gender, and gender identity, why risk unintended consequences? When in doubt, vote no. If Proposal 1 fails, nothing changes. If it passes, we face the potential for disastrous outcomes.
Examples:
"National Origin" - This implies that individuals cannot be discriminated against based on their national origin, which could lead to allowing non-citizens to vote, as restricting this could be seen as discriminatory.
"Age" -No discrimination based on age means a 25-year-old could demand a senior discount, potentially ending age-based benefits. A minor wanting to make their own medical decisions could argue that age restrictions are discriminatory, effectively removing parental oversight and rights. It could also undermine statutory rape laws, allowing pedophiles to claim that age-based distinctions are discriminatory.
Gender" and "Gender Identity" - this could dismantle women's spaces, as these distinctions would no longer exist, erasing protections specifically for women.
