Excellent article, Bobbie Anne. It was an honor to meet you in Rochester when New Yorkers of all stripes came together to try and defeat Hochul's Unconstitutional Quarantine Regulation. I know that you are appealing that horrendous decision by the very Squishy Appealeate Court but in the meantime I wish you and everyone here a Happy Thanksgiving.

Three years ago a friend and her crew used the house for a photo shoot. It was around Thanksgiving. They made disparaging remarks about Thanksgiving because of what happened to the Native population. The irony was that these women came from countries that either deprived women of being truly free or were noted to suppress populations within their own countries. They were all trust fund babies as well. I didn't protest because I am a product of the Judeo-Christian ethic of 'guilt.' We did do those things as a country. Guilt is a good thing but the "left" forgets that the concept comes with redemption otherwise it is just vengeance. But my lack of protest haunted me until I pinned down why. It was a spiritual slap in the face of my maternal grandmother, a widow who helped her extended family crawl out of the slums to all have modest homes. Thanksgiving was a celebration that she and her family had made it. Her story isn't unique. It is the same story for many but with different accents. That story to me is Thanksgiving at its finest.

Happy Thanksgiving! Always nice to stop and ponder on the reason for the season. Thank you for bringing us back to the first Thanksgiving. Myself, in a spiritual sense, I consider The Mayflower Compact one of the founding documents. Penned in 1621 long before the founding of the nation by some of the very first settlers who suffered immense hardships seeing it through. Their voyage was a brutal one. Instead of arriving in Virginia where the first colonies were, they got blown off course and arrived in Plymouth. MA. Here is the Mayflower Compact:

In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign lord King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc.

Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant, and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, offices from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony: unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names; Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord King James, of England, France and Ireland eighteenth and of Scotland fifty-fourth, Anno Domini 1620.
