Stop the Corruption!
You won't believe what they are up to now...
In today’s fast-paced world where you can watch videos at 2x speed and your week’s worth of groceries can be delivered to your doorstep in less than an hour, most people don’t stop to pay attention to what’s going on in the halls of their state’s capitol. Maybe if the issue is sexy, and the mainstream media plasters it plentifully, then perhaps you’ll get a blip on the radar of voter outrage. But it’s usually short-lived, and most people quickly return to their over-scheduled lives.
But there is a tremendous danger in this societal norm of letting politicians run the show with no citizen oversight. The result: our rights are being stripped from us at an astounding rate, and I promise you that if you do not start paying attention, you will awaken one morning and find yourself shackled by power-hungry politicians who will undoubtedly control your every move, and probably your every thought. When left without citizen oversight, corrupt politicians overstep and take powers they are not entitled to have. This is especially true when one political party has complete control of all aspects of our government. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Here in New York, we’ve been living under one-party rule for the past five years now. I’ve said this in almost all of my speeches – I don’t care which party it is, one-party rule is toxic, because there’s no discussion or compromise… only dictatorial edicts. Period. Though I don’t like to pigeonhole myself into a political corner (since I view myself as a constitutionalist with a strong populist undertone), technically it’s my party that is steering the ship in New York with a supermajority in the state Senate, a supermajority in the state Assembly, the Governor’s mansion, and the Attorney General’s office. Let me ask you something - how’s that working out for you? Crime is rampant, fuel prices have skyrocketed, illegal immigration is at an unprecedented (and unsustainable) level, and hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers have fled the State causing us to lose a seat in Congress. And yet, the power-grab continues…
So, what’s going on now? Well, it’s something that has serious national implications because it will ultimately determine which party controls the House of Representatives in Congress. If the Democrats can re-draw the election district lines to their blatant advantage, they’ll presumably take back control of the House, and then the entire nation will be under one-party-rule with the Dems controlling the US Senate, and the House, and the White House, and the Attorney General’s office. A true recipe for disaster! I will reiterate my statement from above again here - one-party-rule is toxic, no matter which party it is.
Point blank – the party in charge is trying to manipulate your vote!
Technically, they want to dilute your vote (and give it less weight), by dividing the election districts in New York state in a way that will surely give them an extremely unfair advantage in our elections. It’s called “gerrymandering,” and here in New York, not only is it illegal, but we the voters have twice in the past decade specifically voted against it. But that doesn’t stop the party in charge from doing it anyway!
Here’s the Cliffs Notes version of this saga…
In 2014, We the People changed the way our statewide voting maps are drawn. Instead of the legislature drawing the maps, a bipartisan advisory commission (called the Independent Redistricting Commission or “IRC”) would draw the maps instead, and then the legislature would approve. We codified this change by making it part of our state Constitution.
However, in early 2021, the Democrat-controlled state Senate and Assembly passed legislation that returned the redistricting power to them in the event the IRC couldn’t agree on maps. The Democrats were sued, and that law was struck down as unconstitutional.
Then in November 2021, the Democrats put on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment that would repeal portions of the 2014 constitutional amendment that created the IRC. New Yorkers rejected that proposed amendment.
In early 2022, the IRC could not agree on “fair” maps, and notwithstanding, the Democrat led legislature adopted unconstitutional maps. They were sued, they lost, and the Court of Appeals (our highest court) tossed out those maps as unconstitutional. The Court appointed an independent special master who drew fair maps. The November 2022 elections (using the independently drawn maps) yielded a result that produced 11 Republican and 15 Democrat members of Congress. Republicans had flipped five New York seats in the House of Representatives from Democrat to Republican, and as a result, the House of Representatives is now controlled by Republicans.
The Democrats could not accept that, so now they are suing to try to get the right to re-draw the maps, again! This is absurd, first because our Constitution says maps are to be redrawn only once every 10 years (and that happened in 2022), second because you don’t get a do-over when your team loses, and third because this goes against the will of the people. New Yorkers have spoken loud and clear, twice now – we do not want gerrymandered voting districts!
Is gerrymandering cheating? Well, according to a recent poll by pollsters, McLaughlin & Associates, a whopping 81% of New York voters consider gerrymandering to be cheating. The same poll showed that 80% of us believe our election districts should not be drawn to favor one political party over another.
So what can we do about it?
Well, I’m heading up an organization called, “Stop NY Corruption,” and our main goal is to stop this unconstitutional power grab by the Democrats in Albany. We are non-partisan, fervent defenders of the Constitution, and of the will of the people.

First of all, it is really a Uniparty that works together until they can't get along in the sandbox. They have to be reminded everyday that they work for us. If they can't then we will find somebody who will take the gig!!
Thank you, Bobbie Anne Cox, your efforts give me great heart. And I think that many people realize now, as never before in their lifetimes, that citizens have to keep a closer eye on what their representatives are up to, and not let them get away with violating our rights, throwing away our money, and engaging in these sorts of shenanigans. I don't expect that yours, mine, or anyone else's efforts will result in the Perfect World Kumbaya, but I do think we are coming into a time when we are beginning to see more citizen engagement at the local, state, and national level than we have in many previous decades. Things have gone far, too far. Your leadership in this specific matter, as in the lawsuit about the quarantine camps, is invaluable.
